/ THE LAVAL VIGIL

FR / EN

From the 15th of September 2012 to the 15th of September 2013
With the Théâtre de Laval, France

Théâtre de Laval director Pierre Jamet became interested in the project from early on. They mounted the The Laval Vigil performance almost simultaneously with the The Rennes Vigil. Two cities in the west of France were then echoing each other.

The shelter, created by Tovo&Jamil, is installed in the beautiful Perrine Gardens, overlooking the river and the city, a real landmark for the inhabitants of the city.

The performance ended with a large human chain along the Mayenne river, and a procession leading up to the Vigil site and the Perrine Gardens. It was here that the Vigils and citizens of Laval were able to perform the "last dance of the Vigil".

/ SELECTED TRACES

« This city "watched over" my birth and childhood and once again "watched over" me. It was not me who watched over me, it was the city... a feeling of protection.
This city will protect me forever.»

Sylviane Housselle, Été 2013
